Hello moon lover,
There is something stirring in the ethers this weekend... a soft, powerful pull toward the sacred. On Sunday, February 1st, we will experience a rare and radiant alignment - Brigid’s Day, Imbolc, and the Full Snow Moon in Leo all arrive together like old friends returning home.
This love note is to honor what you already feel in your bones... that this is no ordinary weekend.
It is a portal. A moment meant for deep remembering.
February 1st is Brigid’s Day, also known as Lá Fhéile Bríde and Imbolc, one of the most ancient holy days marking the midway passage between winter and spring. Brigid is the goddess of the hearth, poetry, healing, fire, smithcraft, protection, and fierce becoming. She is the spark beneath the surface that calls us to rise again. Her story reaches back through millennia... from Celtic goddess traditions associated with the Tuatha Dé Danann, through early Christian legend as the abbess of Cill Dara (Kildare) who founded a spiritual center and kept a perpetual sacred flame burning for centuries, to the present day, where both goddess and saint inspire seekers around the world.
When I was in Ireland and Scotland a couple of years ago, I visited several of the local sites that honor her... walking through beautiful gardens, visiting Solas Bhríde, a Christian spirituality center devoted to her legacy where an eternal flame still burns as a beacon of peace and creativity, and pausing at roadside altars and holy wells tied to her story. These places held a tenderness and strength all at once, and I felt her presence in the land, the water, and the light.
This is the perfect moment to rekindle your own inner flame, the one that may have grown quiet but never truly went out. The one that is exhausted by all that is swirling around us now... and aches for nurturing. And if you want to learn more about Brigid and her many facets, her ancient roots, her modern renaissance, and the ways she continues to call us into remembrance - I invite you to read “Celebrating Brigid’s Day + Imbolc"... it is a beautiful, deeper dive into her story and her ongoing invitation to us all.
Tomorrow, we also experience the Full Snow Moon. As the Moon reaches fullness, her golden light touches the part of you that wants to be seen, expressed, and celebrated. The Leo energy is bold and heart-led, playful and courageous.
This Full Moon asks...
Where am I holding back?
Where do I long to be visible, radiant, free?
What would it feel like to lead with love - not fear?
Let yourself be warmed by this lunar fire. It is here to illuminate your truth.
Here are a few ways I’ll be tending the sacred this weekend - perhaps you’ll join me.
Saturday - Preparing Sacred Space
Gather a few beloved items...
A white candle for Brigid’s flame
A gold cloth and a sprig of rosemary
A bowl of water and a woven cross made of raffia
A stone or crystal that reminds you of your own light
Whisper a promise as you light the flame...
“I welcome what is awakening in me.”
Saturday Evening - Dreaming the Seed
With a warm cup of tea in hand, sit with your journal and ask:
What do I long to create?
What is quietly taking root in my heart?
Write it down, fold it gently, and place it beneath your candle overnight.
Sunday Morning - Fire and Release
As the sun rises, burn a small slip of paper with something you no longer want to carry - an old fear, a tired belief.
Then speak this blessing aloud... “Brigid, keeper of flame and forge, walk beside me as I rise.”
Sunday Night - Moonlight and Magic
When the Full Moon rises, wrap yourself in something golden and stand beneath her light. Place your hand over your heart and say...
“I am ready. I am radiant. I am the light I have been waiting for.”
Let the Moon fully witness you.
Gentle journaling prompts for you...
What part of me is ready to awaken?
What truth am I ready to express more boldly?
What would feel like a brave act of alignment this season?
A Final Blessing...
May this weekend bring warmth to the quiet parts of you.
May Brigid’s fire light the path ahead.
May the Moon remind you that you are already whole, already shining.
And may you walk forward knowing -you are sacred, seen, and deeply loved.
Wrapping you in moonbeams,

Here is a poem about Brigid inspired by my time in Glastonbury - while walking the 8-mile pilgrimage with my two beloveds, Molly and Jen.
Brigid, Keeper of the Flame for the woman who remembers
Brigid,
You of the golden braid
and iron will,
whose hands heal with herbs,
you are the threshold
between winter’s hush
and spring’s first breath.
You rise
because you are fire...
you prepare the path
for when the world is ready.
You are the hearth flame
that gathers the broken,
the doula's warmth
at the edge of life,
the poet’s torch
burning through silence
with holy words.
They call you saint,
and goddess,
and legend...
I know you
as sister,
as spark in my own bones
that says,
“yes...
create anyway, my beloved.
love anyway.
speak, even when the world forgets to listen.”
You walk with blessings...
the sacred well for remembrance,
the forge for transformation,
the hearth for healing,
the milk of life flowing from your open hands.
Where you pass,
the land softens,
the heart stirs,
and something ancient
begins to bloom again.
We became the three hares,
spiraling across the land,
open to the signs,
present in each breath,
carrying prayers through mud and mist
as if they were offerings of gold.
We saw you
in the white-tailed deer,
in the stone with your name carved into it,
in the woman dancing for trees,
in the troubadour’s voice
that rose just for us
at the edge of the Tor.
We heard you
in the question of the time-walker...
we didn’t understand until later,
but you were there too,
folded in the mystery.
Teach us, Brigid,
how to carry the flame
without burning out,
how to be soft and unshakable,
how to bless what is broken
and birth what is bold.
In your name,
keepers of light,
makers of beauty,
daughters of fire...
rise.
