October's New Moon is on 10-25-2022 at 3:48am PT. There is also a Partial Solar Eclipse happening at the same time!
As always, I encourage you to invest time during each New Moon to release whatever is not serving you... to work with the divine lunar energy and start anew.
This month, I want to introduce you to a magnificent, powerful practice to help you release WHO (or what) you need to from your life… Cord-Cutting.
This is a physical and energetic representation of “cutting ties” with negative people, a harmful relationship, or anything or anyone who drains your energy. If you have been feeling ready to release and let go, maybe now is the time to infuse this ceremony into your life. There are many versions to choose from, so I have chosen this simple one to get you started. I will share another of my favorites on a future Fiery Element New Moon.
Gather these items:
Candle + Matches
9-inch Piece of Red String (whatever you have on hand will work - it’s the intention that’s most important here)
Fire-proof bowl
Pen + Paper
Your Journal
Your Sacred Tools - crystals, incense, etc.
When you are ready to do the cord-cutting:
Create a sacred space that feels comfortable and where you can truly relax.
Dim the lights, burn your incense or Palo Santo and snuggle in for your ceremony.
Slow down and intentionally light the candle. If you have matches, use one for this and pay attention to the strike of the match, the sound of the flame igniting, and the smell of the match when you blow it out.
Grab the pen and paper and write out everything you want to say to this person. Don’t hold back. Share your frustrations and your desires. It can be a letter or bullet points - whatever feels good to you.
Hold your string with both hands to represent your past self and future self both connected by the red thread.
Meditate on the words you wrote out in #3.
Carefully bring the string above the flame - letting the heat break it apart. If you don’t have access to or want to use a candle to burn the string in your hands, you can cut it instead.
Next, place the two pieces of string in the fireproof bowl.
Light the paper/letter on fire and place it in the fireproof bowl with the string.
As you see them burn, imagine the negative connection to your past with them burn away, too.
Repeat the following, if you wish: I intentionally sever and release all energetic cords that do not serve my highest good. I release you and I release me from these binds. I call myself and my power back from all places. As my energy flows back to me, filling me once again with peace, love, and light - I claim freedom from negative energy and connections. And so it is. Amen and Blessed Be.
Before you walk away, journal about how this ceremony felt.
Take at least 3 deep breaths to center yourself before you leave your sacred space.
Of course, adding a few crystals will take it to eleven…
