The Full Strawberry Moon... and the Beauty of Another Look

Dear Soulful Sibling,

This morning began the way so many of my favorite mornings do. I carried my magical morning elixir into the backyard, opened the door so Lizzie could begin her daily adventure, greeted the birds as they gathered for breakfast, and wandered through my little bungalow garden while the morning was still wrapped in that delicious early summer coolness.

On Mother’s Day, my niece brought me a few strawberry starts from her own garden. I tucked them into a planter, and ever since, I’ve found myself wandering over every few days to see how they’re settling into their new home.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve enjoyed baskets of sun-sweetened strawberries from our favorite Sonoma County farm stand. Every bite tasted like sunshine.

This morning, my own little strawberry plants appeared content, growing beautiful green leaves. A little while later, curiosity invited me back for another look. As I gently lifted one of the leaves, there she was… one tiny white blossom.

I smiled.

Such a delicate little flower, quietly announcing that fruit is already on its way.

It occurred to me that this is exactly how so much of life unfolds.

The Full Strawberry Moon has long been known as the moon of ripening, a time when wild strawberries signaled the arrival of summer’s sweetness. Long before grocery stores and calendars told us what season we were in, the earth offered her own gentle reminders. A blossom. A berry. A longer evening. The fragrance of warm lavender and jasmine drifting through the garden.

Nature has always known how to reveal her wisdom.

As I sat with that tiny blossom this morning, I found myself thinking about the Thursday morning conversations inside the Red Threads Collective throughout June. Without planning it, each gathering seemed to prepare us for this very moon. We explored thresholds, tended what mattered most, celebrated the wisdom gathered through living, and welcomed the returning light of summer. Looking back now, those conversations feel like a garden of their own, each one quietly strengthening roots before the blossoms appeared.

Perhaps that’s one of the sweetest invitations this moon offers.

Another look.

A chance to notice the quiet beauty that has been growing all along.

Sometimes we recognize it in a conversation that stays with us long after it ends. Sometimes it’s reflected in the kindness we’ve offered, the courage we’ve discovered, or the peace that has slowly found its way into places that once felt tender. Sometimes it arrives as a tiny white blossom, reminding us that beautiful things are already unfolding.

As our nation celebrates 250 years of independence, I’ve also found myself reflecting on another expression of freedom. The freedom to delight in someone else’s beautiful harvest while lovingly tending our own little garden. The freedom to celebrate what is already flourishing in our lives while welcoming everything still making its way toward the light.

Tonight, when the Strawberry Moon rises, I hope you’ll step outside for a few moments.

Take another look.

The moon has a beautiful way of illuminating what daylight sometimes encourages us to hurry past.

Perhaps you’ll notice something that’s been quietly blooming.

Perhaps you’ll remember a conversation that changed the way you see yourself.

Perhaps you’ll discover that what you’ve been hoping for has already begun to reveal itself in the smallest, most beautiful ways.

My tiny strawberry blossom reminded me this morning that life is full of gentle promises.

Sometimes all they need is our attention.

With love beneath the summer moon,

If you’d like to spend a little more time with tonight’s Strawberry Moon…

Gather a handful of fresh strawberries, whether they come from your own garden, a local farmers market, or your neighborhood grocery store.

Brew a favorite cup of tea… perhaps one with fresh mint, lemon balm, or a few rose petals if they happen to be growing nearby. Let the simple rhythm of washing the berries, filling the kettle, and carrying everything outside become part of the ritual itself.

Find a place where you can watch the evening soften. If the moon peeks through the trees, smile and welcome her. If clouds drift by, enjoy their slow dance across the sky. The invitation is simply to be present.

As you savor each strawberry, remember one moment from this season that has quietly shaped your heart. A meaningful conversation. A new friendship. A sunrise. A lesson. A kindness.

A tiny blossom you almost missed.

(If you don’t have access to strawberries… Anything fresh and in season works! )

When your tea has grown cool, and the last berry has been enjoyed, rest your hand over your heart and whisper:

“I welcome another look. I celebrate the beauty already blooming within and around me. I receive this season with gratitude, wonder, and joy.”

Stay for a few more moments.

Let the moon keep you company.

Reflections for Your Journal

• Where have I witnessed quiet blossoming in my life that is ready for another look?

• What goodness has been growing so naturally that I almost overlooked it?

• Which relationships, dreams, or gifts feel especially worthy of celebrating during this season?

• If I viewed my life through the eyes of gratitude, what new blossoms might I discover?

Walking Beside Wise Women

This month’s moon brings to mind Demeter, whose devotion to the earth reminds us that every harvest begins with loving attention and faithful care. She teaches us to honor each season for the gifts it offers, trusting that every garden carries its own beautiful rhythm.

I’m also reminded of Áine, the Irish goddess of summer. She is often remembered as a goddess of midsummer, radiant light, abundance, and joyful flourishing. She reminds us that life’s sweetest seasons invite us to celebrate what has already come into bloom and to receive the gifts of the earth with grateful hearts.

Perhaps the greatest teachers are also the women who have quietly shared their gardens, recipes, stories, and wisdom with us through the years. My niece’s simple gift of a few strawberry starts became so much more than a planter on my patio. It became a reminder that love continues to grow every time we share what has flourished in our own lives.

A Few Moon Companions

If you enjoy working with crystals, Strawberry Quartz beautifully reflects the joyful, heart-opening energy of this moon. Moonstone encourages trust in life’s natural rhythms, and Green Aventurine has long been treasured as a stone of growth, optimism, and flourishing abundance.

For herbs and essential oils, Rose invites us into appreciation, Lemon Balm brings a sense of peaceful ease, and Fresh Mint carries the bright freshness of early summer. Together, they make lovely companions for an evening of reflection beneath the moonlight.

May tonight’s Strawberry Moon illuminate another beautiful corner of the life you’re already living.
