Happy Spring Equinox!

Spring is here!

Let's breathe together.

Deep breath in...

Cleaning, releasing breath out...

Repeat 3 times.

Join me in a lioness roar as you do your final releasing breath out.

The inspiring Spring Equinox energy is encouraging me to embrace this new beginning. How about you?

This energy is here to fuel our growth as the days get longer and the sun grows warmer. Let’s not miss this moment.

Want to do some writing today? Here are some divine journal prompts:

1: What have I been dreaming of doing all winter that I’m ready to start this spring?

2: What conversations are currently inspiring me and setting my soul on fire?

3: What ideas have come out of those conversations that want to bring to life?

4: What or where do I need to grow in order to bring balance to my life?

Now, take a moment to reflect…

Review your answers and look for recurring themes. Are there self-limiting beliefs, relationships, or dreams (that were never really yours) holding you back that you know it’s time to let go?

Beloved, my entire life I have been fascinated by the stories of women in mythology. These women represent incredible archetypes that reside in us today. Though many of their stories were altered by men over the years to serve their misogynistic visions - original texts are being uncovered and highlighted every day and light is shining on the truth. I also love learning about the origins of many of the holidays I have been celebrating my entire life and today holds both.

Earlier this month, I started to read “Walking with Persephone” by Molly Remer again. You can get the book from Womancraft Publishing or Molly's Etsy store - Brigid's Grove.

The flow of the book begins in Spring and March because Persephone’s story is woven into this time of year. (If you have already learned about Persephone, you can read all about the Sumerian Goddess Inanna who also makes the journey from the underworld!)

On this day, Persephone comes up from her winter in the underworld. Her mother Demeter, the Earth Goddess, rejoices at her return and all the plants start to grow again. In the oldest version of the myth, Persephone chooses to go down. Like Inanna, she “inclines her ear to the great below.”

In both stories, these women release what holds them back and embrace their wisdom as they rise up to where they can share all they have learned with their beloveds.

These women teach us that:

🌀 without deep incubation there is no birth - of life or ideas

🌀 life-changing lessons abound when we are in the fire… learnings that allow us to rise to higher levels

🌀 we are able to heal and move into new ways of being when we honor our pain and grief

🌀 we will not mature into the divine wisdom and empowerment of our Sage while we desperately grasp to remain young

🌀 without the dormancy of winter there would be no blossoming in spring

Let this wash over you.

Find what resonates - let it seep into your bones and release the rest.

Oh, and then there are these AHA moments. The Pagan name for the day - Ostara - comes from the name of a Teutonic Goddess of fertility, Oestre. Her name is also the root for the Christian religion's Easter, and Estrogen. Yes - the female hormone. The date of the Christian Holiday Easter is based on Passover, from the Jewish lunar calendar. Easter, which celebrates resurrection, is held on the first Sunday after the Full Moon after the Spring Equinox. Because it is a celebration of the rebirth of Nature’s fertility, eggs and bunnies are woven into these events.

Beloved, take time to renew yourself – your thoughts, your patterns, your health, your dreams, your relationships, your rituals… breathe new life into them!

🌱 Plan a meal with lots of fresh foods today. Be sure to seek out locally grown veggies and herbs!

🌱 Let your dreams see the light of day and begin to take steps towards them.

🌱 Shake off the remnants of winter by moving. Dance in the green grass, row across a lake with your lover, take a walk in nature and pick some flowers, or infuse yoga and meditation into your day… Whatever makes your soul sing - do that!

I’ll close today with a verse from Molly’s book. It’s the “First Task” she shares in March:

The first task

in rebuilding

your soul

is to allow

a wide margin

for magic.

Amen. Aho. And so it is.
