- How I Spend St. Patrick's Day Now...
Let me start by saying I’ve celebrated St. Patrick’s Day my whole life. I have loved turning the toilet water green, making Irish-inspired food, and enjoying a 45* Guinness or two. During our three-week adventure to the UK and Ireland, we heard a lot about St. Patrick. A lot. This fueled my passionate journey of curiosity, unfurling, and awakening to the truths that have been wrapped in “celebrations” for centuries. If you want to know more about this day's true origins, keep reading. These are highlights of things shared on our trip and from several articles I have read over the year. The details of the Patrick story, which most people are familiar with, have been recognized as true for centuries. However, here are some truths... are you ready? His name wasn’t Patrick; it was Maewyn Succat. Some say he was renamed Patricus after becoming a priest which he then changed to Patrick upon his return to Ireland... others believe he became known as Patrick - named after his burial place. The historical Patrick was captured (by Irish Pirates!) as a youth in Roman Britain, sometime in the fifth century AD. He was transported to Northern Ireland, where he spent six years as a slave. He eventually escaped and made his way back home. He became an ecclesiastic and, many years later, left Britain and returned to Ireland as a missionary. He was a ROMAN. His father was a ROMAN CATHOLIC deacon. Yep, he was an Italian born in Britian - and definitely NOT Irish. This tickles me. This St. Patrick, a Christian missionary in the fifth century, is - in folklore - the one who single-handedly converted the whole Irish population to Christianity. The story goes that he rid Ireland of snakes. This has been dispelled many times over since there is NO scientific proof of indigenous snakes there. Rather, the snake has always symbolized paganism and the Goddess, representing the Divine Feminine power and energy of change and transformation. The snake takes another hit from the religious fanatics seeking to keep everyone except the white man in power. The Celts honored the Divine Feminine alongside the Divine Masculine. On the sacred isle of Eire, She was known as Brigid, beloved Great Mother Goddess of the Celts. (I shared about her here.) Brigid was a significant and popular divine presence throughout northern Europe – especially England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. As such, She was an aberration to the Church. So purging Ireland of snakes is most likely a metaphor for purging Divine Feminine traditions and influences. A major step in the direction of disconnecting from nature. In plain words - St. Patrick is glorified for having rid Ireland of pagan beliefs and worship. But he did not defeat the intense adoration that Brigid and others inspired. The flame at the shrine for St. Brigid in Kildare has been kept alive continually to this day. While in Kildare, Ireland, I saw the foundation of what they believe to be this temple. The flame was finally extinguished around the time of the Reformation in the 16th century. In 1993, the Brigidine sisters relit the flame. Since then, the Brigidine Sisters in Kildare have tended the flame in their Centre, Solas Bhride. We visited this divine spot to honor her, walk the labyrinth, and share time with one of the volunteers there. The black base for the flame is made from Bog Oak. It is so magical there. I included the video I took while walking the labyrinth at the bottom of this post... walk with me - if you wish. No matter how well-intended, St. Patrick was bringing to a close several hundred years of fairly peaceful coexistence between the ancient and indigenous spiritual traditions and the relatively new Celtic Catholic Church. His mission was to purge the old beliefs, rituals, ceremonies, and symbols. Purge. This word has such a low, desperate vibration to me. In the same way that the origins of Columbus Day and Thanksgiving are not celebrations for Native Americans or enlightened humans, St. Patrick’s Day is shunned by those Irish folks who embrace their Celtic heritage and culture. Instead, they celebrate Brigid’s Day on February 2, Imbolc, the halfway point of winter, when Her fiery presence is most felt in the gathering light of the sun, the quickening of the life force. After all of this, how will I honor the day? I’ll be celebrating the Divine Feminine. I’ll be investing time today playing Celtic music. I’ll be learning more about ancient Irish traditions. I’ll be enjoying a divine green libation with mint, rosemary, and basil. I’ll be wearing green as an homage to the beautiful nature on this planet. I’ll be watching for signs from magical fairies and dragonflies as I sit and listen to the whisper of the trees… May you enjoy this day, no matter how you decide to celebrate it! Before you go, an Irish Blessing: May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours! And a Haiku inspired by being in Nature with Brigid: In nature's embrace, Listen, look, find your true self, Creation's whisper. Wrapping You in Love + Light, ps. - March New Moon 2024
I love the journey of harnessing the power of the moon's divine phases… Today is a New Moon, meaning the next few days offer the perfect time to reflect, clear your mind, and design your plans for the upcoming weeks. Here are four ways to embrace and honor the energy this week: 1: Renew Your Mind What we focus on flourishes. We spend time organizing drawers and closets - clearing out our physical spaces to create space to rest and grow in peace. This week, invest some time in renewing your mind. If you don’t already have a sacred space to meditate - grab a tray, put a beautiful piece of fabric or lace from your Grammy, add a candle or some incense, and your favorite crystals (my favorites for this cycle are Amethyst and Aquamarine), and a bell or singing bowl to help set your intention and signify when your sacred time begins. Creating your space is a beautiful gift to give yourself. 2: Trust Your Intuition Listening to and trusting your intuition is a sacred practice. This divine whisper within your soul guides you on your path. Create moments of stillness to listen to the gentle nudges to honor your intuition and embrace the sacredness of your inner knowing. By honoring your intuition, you align yourself with the divine flow of our Creator, paving the way for greater clarity, purpose, and fulfillment on your journey. 3: Only Give Your Holiest Yes Practice saying yes only to the holiest, most aligned opportunities for the next week. Once you feel the high of honoring yourself, I dare you to keep it going! One of my favorite filters to use when deciding if it is a holy hell yes or a crystal clear no is my list of core values. If an opportunity does not honor my values, it immediately makes it to the NO list. Joyfully look at your calendar and only keep the Holy Hell Yess events... and ditch as much senseless hustle from your schedule as possible! 4: Honor Your Emotions With everything happening on our planet right now, it can sometimes feel difficult simply getting out of bed. If you need a good cry - run a hot bath, light some candles, and let it out. If you’re ready for a good belly laugh - surround yourself with what brings you joy. For me, animal videos always cheer me up… especially jumping baby goats in pajamas or different animal species loving one another - like this kitty getting a massage from a raccoon! Beloved, once you have had a chance to renew your mind, create room for your holy yes events, and honor your intuition and emotions - take a few deep breaths, put on your coziest goddess gown, grab your journal, reflect, and write out a few things you would like to accomplish over the next 4 weeks! Introspective Journal Prompts: How can I ensure that I take enough time for rest and relaxation? How will I calm and relax myself if I start feeling too stressed? What emotions am I experiencing right now? What thoughts and emotions come to me as I consider starting something new? Where should I establish boundaries to protect my emotional well-being? (This is where the holy hell yes comes into play!) How can I trust and follow my instincts as I move into the days and weeks ahead? Am I absorbing the emotions of others? How can I use my ability to understand others' feelings to support those close to me? I will use this New Moon before my new project launches as a divine moment to plant divinely intentional seeds of clarity of vision, magnetic connections, peace in the process, and joy in the outcome. If you created a playlist to support you in honoring your guiding word of the year - now is an excellent time to listen to it. Here is my ROAR in 24 playlist. - February Full Snow Moon 2024
February’s Full Moon is at her fullest at 4:30am PT on Saturday, February 24, 2024. She is called the Snow Moon because she occurs in one of the coldest times of the year. She is also our first Micro-Moon of the year. This means she is just a little bit farther away from Earth than normal. It won’t likely “look” smaller to the naked eye. While we are still in the midst of Winter, something beneath the surface is starting to stir. Tiny buds and blossoms are starting to awaken, and late winter flowers are blooming. The light is with us longer each day. The hummingbirds and many other creatures are starting to do their mating dances, and the birds are starting to serenade us with joy! My focus for this month’s Full Moon is to reflect on and let go of all that needs to be released and prepare myself to bring this year’s dreams and visions to life. As I slowly come out of my reflection retreat cocoon, I feel my energy rising, just like Nature’s. I encourage you to prepare your sacred space before you journal. Light a candle. (Take it to the next level and choose a color based on your desire!) Place crystals or sacred objects around the space. Play soft, soothing music. Take a moment to express gratitude for this time you've set aside for yourself. Sit or lie in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths to center yourself - bringing your awareness to the present moment. Read through the prompts below. Gather your notebook and pen and get ready for sacred journal time. Journal Prompts: What will I intentionally not bring into spring? What challenges have I overcome? What lessons or new skills have I learned? Who is welcome in my space this year? Who do I need to release? Where am I ready to invest my resources? Where do I want to spend less of my resources? Once you are done journaling, speak these words out loud: "I recognize and release all that no longer serves me. I cleanse and release everything weighing me down and stopping me from moving forward. My concerns are lifted, and my heart feels clear. Divine love and light accompany me wherever I go. I am love. I am light. I am healed and renewed. I am a beacon of hope for myself, others, and the world. And so it is." As with most Full Moons, it is an excellent time to charge all of your favorite baubles, crystals, and creative tools… as well as brew a batch of Moon Water! Here are some things I set out: water, skincare, essential oils, favorite crystals, jewelry, and other baubles… I also set out creative tools I use like my pens, journal, paints, glasses, and my favorite mug. Enjoy your Full Moon rituals, Beloved. Wrapping you in love and light, Full Moon Photo by Serge Gugelmann on Unsplash
- New Moon February 2024
February’s New Moon is today at 2:59p PT. It is also the Lunar New Year! Welcome to the Year of the Wood Dragon! As we move closer to spring - the energy is rising - can you feel it? Our lives are a constant exchange of energy, and keeping our own vibration high can be challenging. We react to and often absorb the energy around us. We bring our own energy into every space we enter. There are days when our energy defines and shapes everything and everyone in our atmosphere… and days when the energy of the world around us shapes us. Energy exchange occurs in three ways: physically - through touch, emotionally - sharing experiences and emotions with others, and mentally - when we share our thoughts and ideas. This New Moon is a time to recognize how it feels to engage with the energy around you and (hopefully) choose to keep your vibes high. Ready to step into the power of your truth on this New Moon? Ready to lean into the parts of yourself you have been hiding and start sharing your bold visions with the world? Here are some journal prompts to guide you: How am I feeling right now? (Check in with your entire self. You may want to roll out your yoga mat and get comfy in the Savasana pose to scan each part of you slowly.) What truths am I ignoring in my physical, emotional, or mental well-being? What activity can I schedule to bring me joy? When I sit in silence, what does my Soul whisper? What are ways I can honor my authentic self? What is one new thing I’d like to experience this month? Beloved, the New Moon is also a divine time to revisit and reflect on the word you chose this year. Take a moment to review the essence of the word… if you made it into an acrostic - read each sentence closely and make a plan to honor at least one of the letters this weekend! - Full Wolf Moon 2024
The inaugural Full Moon of the year will be at her fullest at 9:54am PT tomorrow. This celestial event marks a dynamic start to 2024. Since she will be in Leo, get ready for a surge of self-expression, passion, and undeniable charisma reminiscent of the lion-hearted Leo. This feels like confirmation of my vision for this year. Not only am I a Leo. .. my word for 2024 is ROARING! During the heart of winter, the Full Wolf Moon reminds us this is a time of stillness. She also inspires radical self-reflection and self-love. I encourage you to soak in these beams and step deeper into your truth. Take the time to plant seeds of courage to try new things, revel in moments of introspection, and celebrate who you are today and who you will become this year. Here are some ways to honor and celebrate this Full Moon: 1: CHARGE YOUR DIVINE TOOLS UNDER THE MOONBEAMS As with most Full Moons, it is an excellent time to charge all of your favorite baubles, crystals, and creative tools… as well as brew a batch of Moon Water! Here are some of the things I set out: water, skincare, essential oils, favorite crystals, jewelry, and other baubles… I also set out creative tools I use like my pens, journal, paints, glasses, and my favorite mug. Why charge water under the moonlight? The close connection between the moon and water allows for the infusion of lunar energy into the liquid. You can use your moonbeam water for various things, including ritual baths, crafting cocktails, and conducting dissolving rituals. To brew your own batch of moon-infused water, fill a container with filtered water, position it directly under the moonlight, speak an affirmation or prayer over it, and allow it to sit overnight in the moonlight. By the morning, the moon water will be ready… be sure to bring it inside before the sun comes up and store it in a dark, cool space. 2: FULL MOON BATH RITUAL Pair your self-reflection time with soaking in a hot, salty bath. I share one of my favorite Full Moon Bath rituals here . 3: MOONLIT MEDITATION Tap into this moon's divine power with mindful meditation moments. Find a comfortable spot under the moonbeams, close your eyes, and engage in deep, rhythmic breathing. Breathe for 4. Hold for 4. Exhale for 4. Hold for 4. Imagine your ideal life, allowing the moon's energy to intensify your vision. Concentrate on your intentions, picturing the moon's radiant glow purifying your body, mind, and spirit as you feel the feelings you will feel when those visions become reality! Take it to 11 with my Full Wolf Moon Meditation playlist and complement this divine time. 4: HOWL AT THE MOON Yes. You read that right. HOWL AT THE MOON. Invite friends to join you and create your own Wolf Pack... Go ahead, I dare you. 5: JOURNAL When you are ready, here are some journal prompts to help you harness the power of this delicious Leo energy: 1: What can I do to bring more passion to my relationship with myself and/or my partner? 2: How can I infuse more joy into my professional life? 3: What changes can I make to my daily routines and rituals to make them more fun and sacred? Don’t want to answer these prompts? Consider drawing an image or writing a poem inspired by the questions! Whether you choose to invest some extra moments meditating, journaling, drawing, writing poetry (haikus are a favorite of mine!), or savoring a salty soak - taking the time to honor this Full Moon is a divine gift to give yourself! - January New Moon 2024
I love that the first New Moon of 2024 is today... the first 11th of the year! Allow this New Moon to support your guiding word or energize you as you reflect and walk through the process of choosing one. In addition to honoring or choosing your guiding word, I encourage you to invest time over the next few days to answer these reflection questions: What have I released since the full moon? How can I help bring my goals and intentions to fruition? What seeds am I ready to plant? As a physical celebration and representation of this New Moon, I encourage you to venture out this weekend and purchase a Money Plant. When you tend to your plant, whether watering it, pruning it, or simply enjoying watching it grow… take a moment to reflect on your guiding word. Print out your acrostic and read each supporting sentence out loud over your plant... or play your playlist while you spend time with it. As for me, I will be reveling in magical moments of hygge for the rest of the month. Hygge is a Danish concept that encompasses a feeling of coziness, contentment, and well-being. It emphasizes creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, often involving soft lighting (lots of candles!), comfortable furnishings, cozy fires in the hearth, and the enjoyment of simple pleasures. Hygge encourages a sense of togetherness and connection with loved ones, in a relaxed and unhurried environment. Ultimately, it's about embracing the present moment and finding joy in life's simple moments. I hope you'll join me. Wrapping you in love and light, If you haven’t chosen your word yet, there is always time! You can download the 2024 guidebook here. It will help you choose your word, walk you through creating an acrostic or acronym, and share ways to support it throughout the year! My word is ROARING... take a peek at my acrostic to inspire you on your journey!
- December Full Cold Moon 2023
Dearest, it’s time to charge water and baubles under the moonbeams! Together, let's revel in honoring the divine cycles our Creator created and soak in the magic of this one. Today is the final Full Moon of 2023. She will be at her fullest at 4:33pm PT... and is known as the Cold Moon December is traditionally a time for culminations and celebrations with our loved ones. This month’s Full Moon also reminds us that we’ve completed an entire trip around the Sun! As we are reminded every 4 weeks, the Moon goes through different phases and, during a Full Moon, it looks like a big ball in the sky. This particular full moon’s name comes from Mohawk sources. The Full Cold moon gets its name because it happens when it’s freezing outside, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. Now is a beautiful moment to focus on all the good things you experienced this year and all the magnificent things headed your way. As I get older, I see how deeply the world has gotten this season backward. The media tells us December is all about the hustle and hurry. We are supposed to make sure we attend every soirée, shop for everyone on our list, run ragged getting cards to everyone, plan out our business for 2023 in deep detail, and so much more. It’s exhausting just thinking about the “go go go” messaging! This is another reason why I love looking to Nature for clues. December’s Cold Moon spiritual meaning corresponds with the dormant energy all around us - just as God intended it to be. The trees lose their leaves for a reason. It’s a divine time for releasing and reflecting - a reminder and opportunity to recharge and reconnect. For me, this magical season is full of soul-searching, transformation, and deep internal work. I have learned it is possible to pause, rest, and reflect. Start by remembering you are worthy regardless of what you accomplished this year, what your bank account says, or the extravagant gifts you give. Do your best to use this time under the Cold Moon to rest. Take a cue from the bears and “hibernate”. Slow down and be fully present in activities that truly bring you joy and pleasure. Let every fold of the wrapping paper be a ritual. Let every song or carol you sing be a form of Worship. Let every hug you give or receive be intentional, and may you be totally present to exchange the energy. Here are a couple of things to consider weaving into the week ahead: First, focus on being grateful. Gratitude promotes better mental health, supports deep, restful sleep, and strengthens relationships… all things we strive for - especially around the holidays. Implement a ritual to help you finish the year grateful. It could be a gratitude jar, a journal where you list 3 things you are thankful for each day or a daily meditation that centers you in a place of gratitude. Whatever you choose, please surround yourself with loving, nurturing words, music, and souls. I encourage you to listen in to this conversation Molly and I had around Gratitude: https://debratrappen.com/stt-12-1 Second, take some time to journal. Choose to answer some of these questions or start writing whatever flows from you! Where is my mind saying one thing, and my heart is saying another? What am I asking to be shifted in my life or energy? Which of my perspectives is being challenged? Where can I be more flexible? What am I learning about showing up for myself and others authentically? How am I integrating joy and fun into my life these last few weeks of the year? What would I like to do to bring more holiday magic to the season? Do I embrace new ideas with comfort? If not, why? Even if you don’t have all of the answers now, trust the messages you need will find you at the exact right time. Praying the rituals that fill your soul find you, my beloved. - Honoring Winter Solstice 2023
Today is the Winter Solstice. Meaning 'standstill of the sun' - Solstice is the perfect time to lovingly reflect on the year gone by and dream of what's to come... all while we sit in the 'in-between'. Here are some of my favorite things to do during the Longest Night: 1: Perform a Cleansing Ritual. My go-to cleansing element is smoke... you can use an incense stick, herb bundle, Palo Santo stick (ethically sourced!), etc. Begin by grounding yourself: plant your feet on the floor, take a deep breath through your nose, and exhale out of your mouth. (You can roar as you exhale or imagine fire coming from your breath.) If you're inside, open the doors and windows Gather and light candles. Bring your crystals together. When ready, ignite the incense or bundle with a match, allowing it to produce smoke. Depending on your preference, you may need to relight it periodically for a sustained smolder. Wave the smoke around your body or room corners for energy cleansing. Alternatively, let the bundle smolder in a heat-safe dish or an abalone/oyster shell. NOTE: Several plants are excellent for smoke cleansing, including garden sage, rosemary, cedar, juniper, and lavender. I love to add rose petals around the outside of the herb bundle before binding it with string to dry. 2: Write a Release List Reflect on the aspects of your life that are no longer serving you. Prompts: Who am I ready to release from my life? What self-limiting beliefs or toxic behaviors am I ready to leave behind? 3: Create a Gratitude List Write out as many things as possible... nothing is too big or small! Prompts: Who am I grateful for? What life-giving events happened this year? What habits did I embrace this year that wove meaning and joy into my life? How will I bring these into the New Year? Over the next three nights, invest time in dreaming of everything you wish to happen next year. Keep adding to your list! Focus on each item and wish. Be specific - adding in as many delicious details as possible - and remember to include the feelings you will feel while experiencing those moments. Anything goes, Beloved. Be true to yourself - this is all for you. Want to experience another layer of magic? I encourage you to put your notes in an envelope and seal it. Open it up next Winter Solstice. You will be amazed at how much you’ve accomplished! ps. If you haven't chosen your 2024 Guiding Word, you can download my updated guide here. This is a fun exercise to go through next.... - December New Moon 2023
Today is the final New Moon of 2023. Over the years, I have woven a few rituals, intentions, and magical ideas together to celebrate December’s New Moon. This is an ideal time for setting intentions and vision-casting the possibilities for the year ahead. Here are some things you can do to honor this moon phase: 1: Take Time For Yourself This time of year is filled with consumerism and senseless hustle energy… There is always somewhere to be and something to do… reclaim your time and invest in yourself. Is there a book you have been meaning to read or listen to? Is there a MasterClass you have had on your vision board all year? Have you been dreaming of taking the weekend off to write or walk or renew your mind in nature? Now is the time. Carve out time for yourself this week… 2: Take Time To Reflect On The Year Here are a few of my favorite reflection questions to inspire you… 1: What were your most significant lessons in the past year? Reflect on the experiences that taught you valuable insights. Consider both challenges and successes. What did these moments reveal about yourself, your values, and your priorities? Embrace the lessons, whether they were moments of triumph or adversity, and let them shape your growth. 2: How did you nurture your well-being and self-care throughout the year? Take a moment to evaluate the practices contributing to your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. What self-care rituals did you incorporate into your routine? Whether it's mindfulness, exercise, creative pursuits, or moments of stillness, acknowledge the positive habits that support your overall wellness. 3: How did you connect with others and build meaningful relationships? Consider the relationships that enriched your life during the past year. How did you nurture connections with friends, family, or your community? Reflect on moments of shared joy, support, and growth. Whether through communication, acts of kindness, or shared experiences, appreciate the bonds that add warmth and depth to your journey. 3: Step Outside And Breathe Deeply It is as simple as it sounds. Open the door, walk outside, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. Try box breathing… Inhale for a count of 4. Hold for 4. Exhale for 4. Hold for 4. (Don’t hold your breath if you are pregnant or have heart issues.) Live near trees? Take some time to sit underneath them, walk barefoot on the earth, and ground yourself. This brings me so much peace and I pray it does the same for you. May you find joy in the sweet moments as you celebrate this final New Moon of the year. - November Full Beaver Moon 2023
Monday, November 27, 2023, at 1:16am PT the Full Beaver Moon will be at her brightest. Curious about the name? This time of year, beavers have begun their annual rituals to prepare for Winter. They remind us it is time to say goodbye to Autumn and lovingly welcome the coming of Winter and the season of Hygge . The Full Beaver Moon encourages careful preparation to create a cozy, secure environment in each luscious layer of your life. Before you prepare, create a sacred space to slow down, connect to your power, and celebrate yourself and the things you’ve overcome and accomplished in the past month. Then, let go of old patterns and negative, self-limiting beliefs you gathered this month. When you let go, you make the space for new intentions and goals to aspire to in the month and new year ahead. While I was in Scotland and Ireland, I learned more about Samhain. Celtic tradition honors November and this Full Moon as the beginning of a new year and weaves rituals around transformation, protection, death, ancestors, and shadow work together. I love the connection to Nature’s pattern here. As the leaves are nearly all off the trees, it is time for us to shed what no longer serves us and take time to rest before the season of seeds and growth. Here are some ways to honor and activate this Full Moon: Soak in guided meditations, breathwork, or yoga to keep grounded and centered in your body. Carve out time to be creative. Is there a crafty project you have been dreaming of? Perhaps holiday gifts you’d like to make yourself? Choose a drawer, closet, or other space to organize. Prepare for holiday festivities by setting up a fun wrapping or coffee/tea station. Invest time outside - even if it’s a short walk. Use your senses to observe all the messages our Creator is giving you to start slowing down for Winter. Take photos of the glorious, leafless trees! If you enjoy journaling, take some time to contemplate these prompts: Recall the time you wished for what you have now. Write about where you were and how far you’ve come. Have you celebrated the abundance you have and the powerful way you manifested it? Who are you if everything was taken away from you (items, home, career, titles, etc.)? Imagine you’ve suddenly become the version of yourself you’ve been striving to become. Describe in detail what your life feels like and what you're doing on a daily basis. What choices are you making? Then... choose one or two things you can change tomorrow to become this version of yourself! Write down any emotions, thoughts, or physical things you’re ready to release. If you are feeling like taking this to 11, perform a burning ceremony. Details inside this blog post . Consider turning your bathing time into an intentional ritual for the next few nights. Fill the room with candles, review the above journal prompts, listen to a meditation, or do some breathwork as you soak in the tub. When you drain the water, repeat this: I release all that no longer serves my soul’s calling I wash it away so that I may start anew With a renewed focus on embracing peace in this process. I look forward to the possibilities. In perfect time In perfect alignment And so it is. One more important thought before I head into my ceremony preparations… This time of year is difficult for so many. Beloved, maybe you are personally being triggered by past traumas or a yearly drama-filled gathering approaching. Please remember to gift yourself with compassion and patience as you navigate the plans you welcome. And, no matter what anyone says, it is completely acceptable not to spend the holidays with people you don’t want to invite over or go see. It may not be accepted by others, but it doesn’t make it any less acceptable. There will be angst and joy in establishing and maintaining new boundaries. Wrapping you in love and light, ps. Don't forget to put out your crystals, baubles, tools, journals, etc. It will be an incredible night of divine moonbeam energy! - October Full Hunter Moon
Shrouded in a lunar eclipse and mystery… This Full Hunter Moon in Taurus is at Her fullest at 1:24pm PT on October 28, 2023. I will be soaking in the moonbeams here in Northern Ireland - if She shows herself. The October Full Moon traditionally marks a time for hunting and gathering in preparation for the winter months ahead. It's a time to store food and make provisions for the colder days. I am encouraging you to step beyond your norm, discover your fullest potential, and dance in the discomfort! See this as a significant period for introspection. Take time to reflect, forgive, release, and take action to pursue your dreams. Then, add the Lunar eclipse. They emphasize the conclusion of emotional cycles, urging us to release attachments that no longer benefit us or serve our highest purpose. They usher in events aligned with our spiritual journey, often involving change we can choose to step into confidently. Many cultures have their own rituals and traditions associated with the Hunter Full Moon phase. Many believe the Veil between this world and the other more mysterious lands of ancestors and spiritual beings of all kinds is thin and contact is easier during this time period. Here are some ways to honor this Full Moon: 1: Connect with your ancestors to change or deepen your relationships with them. Design a lovely space with flowers, their favorite snack, write a letter or poem, etc - include a photo of them (with you - if you have one!), as well. 2: Clear the clutter in preparation for the hygge living ahead! Schedule time to take care of chores that have been postponed. One drawer at a time… 3: Warm yourself from the inside out. Brew and sip your favorite Peppermint or Elderberry tea. 4: CAN CAN CAN it! Make jams or can extra fruits and veggies. This is a divine act your ancestors likely engaged in, too! 5: Ready to call in abundance? Grab your Citrine crystal and repeat these intentions/prayers: "I am abundantly creative. My life is overflowing with joy." "I easily attract what I need. I embrace my success & confidence.” “I am a magnificent magnet for money.” Beloved, I will be holding sacred space for you as you soak in the beams wherever you are. If you feel moved, please let me know how you decided to honor the Full Moon… Wrapping you in love and light, ps. Want to sprinkle in some music? Check out my ever-growing playlist ! The next few days are FILLED with divine feminine energy. Today is Friday the 13th, and this weekend is the October New Moon and a Solar Eclipse! Let's start with Friday the 13th. Friday the 13th is a day that is traditionally feared. It involves spooky black cats, avoiding ladders, men in hockey masks killing dingbat campers, etc. These things never scared me, and the gore does not entertain me. Triskaidekaphobia is the actual fear of the number 13, and it is often associated with Friday the 13th. People avoid using the number 13 in various situations, such as avoiding the 13th floor in buildings or not having 13 guests at a dinner party. Actually, I love black cats - especially those with green eyes. I feel blessed when I see them. I even have a statue of one under my desk that belonged to my Grandma... Tempest keeps me company while I create. :) Some fun facts: 🔥 Did you know that Friday the 13th was considered the day to honor Feminine Energy prior to patriarchal times? It was a day when women honored the goddess that lives in them. Ceremonies were held to honor the powerful cycles of creation, death, and rebirth. Many (including me) have reclaimed the origins of this day and celebrate it as a very powerful day to manifest, celebrate beauty and creativity, honor wisdom, and invest time nurturing the Soul. 🔥 Did you know Friday has long been associated with Venus? She’s a divine archetype for all things feminine, sensual, and creative. 🔥 Did you know the name Friday comes from Old English and literally means 'day of Frigg'? Frigg is the Norse goddess of love, fertility, and motherhood. She is often seen as the same being as Freya, the goddess of beauty, fertility, sex, and war. So many divinely feminine connections here... 🔥 Then there is 13 - a divinely feminine number. Why? In part, it is the number of moon cycles each year, and our menstrual cycles flow with those 13 moon cycles. The moon itself represents feminine energy and is connected to and can have a pull on the emotions and sensitivities of humanity. It is also an extremely powerful time of death and rebirth as it represents that mid-point in the cycle between something new emerging and something old slipping away. As with many SACRED feminine ceremonies, rituals, and cycles - when society switched from matriarchal to patriarchal - these sacred things were no longer honored or respected. Even the divine cycle of women was made “impure and unclean” and something they were forced to hide. Our feminine nature and ways were now feared because they were unknown. The masculine energy in our leaders jumbled those letters, and sacred became SCARED. Below is a lovely evening ritual I encourage you to create in your home this weekend. Next, let's talk about the Solar Eclipse New Moon on October 14th. It will be a "ring of fire" eclipse and the first U.S. location to experience the eclipse's annular "ring of fire" stage will be the Pacific Northwest at 9:13 am PT. A solar eclipse is not ideal for my lunar ceremonies because the energy is unpredictable. Since a formidable shadow conceals celestial radiance, I wouldn't advise putting your crystals and baubles out. In short - don't soak the chaos into your world, Beloved. A 13-step ritual to revel in this weekend: 1: Set the mood by finding a quiet, cozy place. Your bedroom or other sacred space would be ideal. 2: Brew yourself a cup or small pot of tea and use your favorite teacup. If you have one from your female ancestors, use it. 3: Light a few candles. Use matches if you have them, and pay attention to the sound of the strike. 4: Choose and apply essential oils to your wrists and neck or burn incense infused with herbs or plants traditionally associated with Venus, like Rose, Jasmine, or Vanilla - mix in Cypress, Myrrh, or Sandalwood to honor nature! 5: Grab your journal and yoga mat (or lay out a blanket), then sit down, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Feel the coolness of the inhale and the heat of the exhale. Quiet your mind and simply BE. Listen to your internal voice; when you identify self-limiting or negative thoughts, write them down and bid them farewell. Documenting your current emotions and experiences in your journal can help bring clarity and redirect your focus, offering valuable insights. You can do a burning ceremony - if you wish. I shared this process in this post. 6: Write down positive affirmations and divine declarations, like, “I am love” and “I am abundance." that help you REPLACE those negative thoughts you are releasing. Here are a few on replay for me: I am walking into the healthiest, wealthiest, most joyful version of myself I have ever seen. Everything I desire is coming to me because everything I desire is already in me. Everything is always working out for me. 7: Grab a pad of sticky notes or a dry-erase pen, add the affirmations to your bathroom mirror, and create a recurring calendar appointment to hold them in the notes so you can revisit each morning/evening. Surrounding yourself with these words will help you attract the energy and abundance you seek by focusing on being Love. 8: The next step is practicing self-love and self-care. Pull your hair back and soak into your nightly skincare routine. Slow down and really appreciate how good that warm washcloth feels and how delicious the moisturizer feels as you massage your face with it. I love using Frankincense on my skin... it nourishes it and smells so divine! 9: Repeat those affirmations on your mirror as you look deep into your eyes and smile at your reflection. Let the words flow into, over, and through you. 10: Now, grab your coconut oil (or fave lotion) and give your whole body some extra love... add in some lavender oil and end by concentrating on your feet. If you have a lover, bring them into this part of the ritual - if you wish. 11: Head back to your yoga mat, sit tall, and breathe in and out - repeating your affirmations. 12: Crawl under the covers, pull out your journal, and pen any additional thoughts or affirmations that came to mind during your meditation moments. 13: Snuggle in and sleep well tonight! Enjoy implementing this lovely new ritual and reclaiming the Divine Feminine!
